Guest editor Rev. fr. Nicanor Pier Giorgio R. Austriaco, O.P., SThD, PhD said in his that the essays in this volume 鈥渃onfirm the intuition that the scholastic framework can help Filipinos better understand how they feel, how they choose, how they think, and how they act.鈥�

- Wilhelm Bo帽on, O.P. presents the dynamic interplay between the Filipino virtue of pakikis谩ma and Aquinas鈥� concept of charity within the context of friendship, i.e., amicitia, thus forging a compelling dialogue that uncovers the profound connection between these two virtues.
- by Siddharta Chiong, O.P. uses the Thomistic virtue ethics framework to recast kagandahanglo贸b, which is the disposition to regard the other as a kapwa or shared-self, as a Filipino virtue.
- by Marc Adrian de la Pe帽a, O.P. studies “utang na lo贸b” in conversation with St. Thomas鈥� Aquinas鈥� notion of gratia/gratitudine, demonstrating how Aquinas’ notion of gratitude can elucidate ways to avoid the pitfalls of utang na lo贸b and distinguish circumstances where utang na lo贸b becomes either a virtue or vice.
- by Vince Stanley B. I帽igo, O.P. explores pagpapakabayani in dialogue with the Thomistic account of virtuous anger.
- by Ian Joeffrey G. Melendres, O.P. proposes that the virtue of paninindigan must play an integral part of any successful Filipino virtue ethics, aiming to discover that this virtue can fundamentally anchor the Filipino virtues in katotohanan, i.e, truth.
- by Julian Christopher Morada, O.P. examines the writings of Thomas Aquinas in Summa Theologiae regarding the virtue of faith.
- by Regalado Trota Jos茅 presents the documents that show the strong Santo Ni帽o devotions in the northernmost towns of the Ilocos and Cagayan provinces.
